Maconomy delivers new IT solution to Opera Software

11-04-2008

Maconomy Norway has signed an important deal with the Norwegian software company Opera Software. The deal includes the delivery of a Maconomy Consulting Solution for 460 users with a number of add-on modules. The ERP solution is expected to be ready for use on October 1, 2008.

Opera Software develops web browsers for desktop and mobile platforms. The new solution is based on a number of Maconomy’s standard components and strengthens Opera Software’s ability to manage its business development. Opera Software has purchased Maconomy’s Business Intelligence solution AnalytiX as well as the Job Cost, Finance, HR and SpeedSheet modules. AnalytiX enables Opera Software to create detailed and fully updated status reports with key figures of the entire company. Opera Software will start using the implemented Maconomy solution in early October 2008.

“By signing this deal Maconomy proves that our ERP solutions can add value to many different types of knowledge-intensive organisations, even if they are not part of our key customer segment, ’Professional Services Organisations’. This is a strategically important deal for us in many ways,” says CEO Hugo Dorph, Maconomy.

The Opera Software (www.opera.no) success story started off as a research project at Norway’s largest telecommunications firm Telenor in 1994. The independent software company Opera Software ASA was founded the following year. Opera Software focuses on Open Source programming standards and develops the Opera web browser for a wide range of platforms, operating systems and embedded internet products. Opera Software is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and has seen rapid growth over the last few years.

”Maconomy is doing very well in Norway. We have delivered solutions to The Norwegian Opera and now to Opera Software as well, but despite the obvious name similarities these two organisations are very different. Nevertheless, both companies have project-based structures and rely heavily on knowledge, and this is exactly where Maconomy can capitalise on its comprehensive knowledge of the challenges they face,” says CEO Hugo Dorph, Maconomy.

The main reason why Opera Software selected Maconomy’s business solution was that Maconomy has a very positive track record delivering ERP solutions to project-based organisations. Opera Software’s management arrived at the conclusion that it was necessary to invest in an ERP solution that offered close integration between finance and project management. This decision was made to ensure that company data and key figures are always fully integrated and up-to-date
