We set out by working closely with a handful of customers to develop a business application as well as a solid underlying solution architecture.
Exclusive focus on Professional Services
The industry we targeted was Professional Services, and our business application soon matured into a full-fledged Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for Professional Services Organisations (PSO's) - a segment practically no other ERP vendor showed interest in at the time.
Many economists preached that services will be the industry of the future. Management and IT gurus alike kept telling us that enterprises must integrate their business applications to be competitive in the future. We concluded that a there must be a future in providing ERP to PSO companies!
Seamless adjustment to the World Wide Web
When the World Wide Web arrived, it was a major technology disruption for many IT companies. However, sound software development allowed us to quickly leverage it without having to redesign our product architecture. In 1998 we launched our first web-based solutions, including a web shop and a web-based time sheet, and soon our entire application was accessible via the Web.
Successful IPO in 2000
In light of the strong growth prospects of our industry through the nineties, we decided to go public in 2000. Despite severe turbulence on the international IT stock markets that year, Maconomy was able to successfully complete the IPO in December 2000.
After the dotcom fizzle and 9/11 we strengthened our focus on lean processes, solid growth and continuous profitability. We have consistently met these objectives over the past few years.
